I know, I know, every blogger ever seems to make a 'My New Years Resolutions' post. I think that everybody is so keen to publish their goals on the internet in front of everybody because it really does push you to try harder to achieve them. That's partly the reason I'm writing about my goals on here, partly so I can look back at the end of 2017 and see whether or not I managed to achieve any of my aims, and partly because I want my blog to be a bigger part of my life in the coming year. With that said, it seems only fitting to begin this post by talking about the goals I have more my blog...

Being a university student, who also works part time during my spare time whilst balancing essays and a boyfriend, I often feel like I don't get any time to myself to do things that I enjoy - like blogging. Now I know that there are people with much busier lives than I that manage to schedule blogging into their hectic lives, so if they can do it, so can I! By summer I hope to be well into a routine of posting 3 times a weekI also hope to build my confidence so that I feel more comfortable posting outfit and fashion posts. I love reading fashion content but because I'm not a 6 foot, gorgeous model, I never feel as though I have the right to post anything - how stupid?! That's definitely something I want to change.
Lastly, I know blogging isn't about the numbers - lord if it was I wouldn't still be going three years on! But this year I have set a personal aim that I would love to reach. By the end of 2016 if I could reach 1000 followers on bloglovin' I'd feel so damn proud of my little blog, and proud of myself for having all of my hard work pay off.

My photography skills are something I've felt conscious about ever since entering the blogging world. I don't have a super expensive camera and so my photos don't always look as good as I'd like them too. However, as blogging has been a constant in my life for three years now, and photography has become something I really enjoy, I'm totally ready to take the plunge and invest in a good camera. I've been doing a bit of research and so far I'm liking the look of the Olympus Pen E-PL7. Whichever camera I do invest in, I'll be sure to blog about it. I would also like to learn the basics of photoshop so that I can make sure my photos are looking at their best.
Upping my photography game isn't a goal exclusive to my blog. Instagram is such an incredible tool for marketing and throwing your blog, ideas and photos out into the world. Whilst I love every single photo that I post to Instagram, I don't love what my feed looks like when they're all put together. This year I'd like to improve my Instagram page by giving it a theme.... Yeah, we'll see how that goes..

This one is pretty self explanatory... you see youtube is something I've always wanted to do because well... It just seems like a lot of fun. I remember back in 2009 a friend and I set up a channel and started recording little comedy sketches together. I edited them together and we had a good 6 minute long video. Whilst the video it's self was probably utterly terrible, I didn't care because we had so much fun making it. It was only when people at school found it and started to make fun of us that we took it down. So, by the end of next year I want to have found the courage to make at least 1 youtube video. I honestly don't know what's stopping me!

Let me just start this point off by saying how much I love cheese. I REALLY love cheese... and eggs.... and salmon. In fact I really love a lot of foods that you can't eat if you are a vegan. There are a few reasons behind this ambition. Firstly, I don't agree with the conditions in which animals are kept in and the way in which they are treated for their produce, therefore I really shouldn't be supporting it. Secondly, a couple of weeks ago I watched a documentary called 'Cowspiracy' which really opened my eyes to a lot of environmental issues I had previously known nothing about. And lastly, people talk about feeling so much better after making the transition to a vegan lifestyle. That is why in 2016 I hope to go vegan for 1 month and see how I find the transition. If I feel like I'm enjoying the lifestyle change then perhaps I'll have the courage to transition permanently. I don't want to say too much about this ambition in this little post as I have a much more detailed post on this subject planned.

Thank you to Shia Labeouf for being the inspiration for this one! I'm such a sucker for leaving my essays and chores (or anything important really) till the last minute. Even as I write this I have two 3500 word essays, one 2500 word essay and a website to design all due in a weeks time. I am sick of stressing myself out with last minute wonders, so in 2016 I hope to just get things done when I get given them. By sticking to this resolution, I should free myself more blogging time up!

I think this is something that a lot people need to practise. I am my own worst enemy. I have very little confidence in myself sometimes and I put myself down a lot. This year I hope to treat myself better, whether that be taking the time to take care of myself, professinally dealing with my anxiety, or just having the drive and conviction to achieve the goals that I've set myself here. This year I just hope to be nicer to myself.

Well, my aims are out there on the internet now so I guess this means I've got to stick to them and do my best to reach the goals I've set for myself. Did you have any new years resolutions this year? What were they?

love, always

  1. A great selection of aims for the year. Mine are quite similar in some respects and I also want to start on Youtube but haven't been able to muster up the courage for it. (The main reason I wanted to do it though was because I love video editing..that could be why). Best of luck with achieving your goals this year! x

  2. I feel like 3 posts a week is too much with all the things going on in your life, wouldn't want you to be stressed out but hopefully you can do it! Just bloomin' do it is something I should learn too haha :)
