As much as I love blogging to gain people's perspectives on which are the best products on the market, I also think it's important to acknowledge those slightly disappointing items as well. After all I'd rather read an honest but negative review of a product than a completely false and complementary one. So I started thinking, I have a fair sized collection of products I bought on a whim and ended up really not liking, so I thought if I were to share my less than satisfactory experience with you, I could save you from making the same mistakes - and thus the "Products I Regret Buying" series was born!

So first up on my list of disappointing products has to be the "You Rebel" tinted moisturiser from Benefit with SPF15. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE benefit products, and I was really miffed when I didn't gel with this moisturiser but I do have some legit reasons for disliking it.
Firstly, when you hear the phrase "tinted moisturiser" you think of a lightweight, low coverage and most of all natural looking product right? Well that's certainly not what 'You Rebel' provides. When you first squeeze the product out of the tube it looks really thick and cakey, however it does seem to react to the heat from your hands and melt a little making it easier to rub into your skin. However no amount of buffing or blending leaves me with a colour anywhere near to that of my own skin colour!

As you can see in the photo above (ignore my misshapen claw of a hand) the moisturiser is super pigmented and incredibly orange looking on pale skin. Perhaps it's because I have pink undertones in my skin rather than yellow like the product, but orange really isn't a good look. If like me you're rather pale then this is definitely a product to avoid, especially as out of the TWO shades that Benefit make this moisturiser in, this is the lightest.

I'm also not a fan of how this product feels on the skin. When wearing it I'm always acutely aware that there's something slimy on my face. It sort of feels as if throughout the day the rest of my makeup is sliding around my face. 'You Rebel" definitely makes my skin feel a lot oilier than it normally would. Ugh, I'm shuddering at the thought of it.

The product definitely has it's own strong, distinct smell as well. I'd say it just smells like the suncream you used to wear on holiday when you were little.. you can judge for yourself whether you think that's a good thing for a face product or not. Personally I just don't like the idea of my foundation/moisturiser smelling more than my perfume!

As I said before, I really do love Benefit products so I was annoyed when this moisturiser and I didn't get along... I will try my best to get through the rest of this tube but I make no promises! What products have you been disappointed with?

  1. I can't believe how bad it is! Major let down from Benefit x

  2. Wow! Is it rude of me to say this kinda looks like paint lol? It's great that you're showing what it's really like and being honest :) more people need to do this xxx

  3. That's not a genuine You Rebel product, it's an imposter. You Rebel does not look or feel like that at all. Only purchase from a reputable Benefit counter. I'm afraid you have been conned.

  4. Wonderful post!!Your blog is lovely!!!! Would you like to follow each other on bloglovin' ? xxx

  5. I wish they did this in more shades, it's annoying they've limited it! xo
