The maybelline baby lips have been a huge hit in the US for what feels like an age now, but it's only recently that the brand have decided to launch them in the UK. Now when these bad boys were launched in America I did not want to have to wait to get my hands on them so naturally I did what any blogger would do and found them on Ebay. God don't you love world wide shipping?
Originally I ordered five of the six flavours (from left to right) Peach Kiss, Grape Vine, Quenched, Cherry me and Pink Punch. However unfortunately I can't find Pink Punch anywhere for the life of me.

Maybelline advertises the balms as providing moisture for a full 8 hours, a statement that if I'm totally honest I'm only half sold on. There's no doubt about it, these balms really are a collection of some of the most moisturising lippys on the market, but for a full 8 hours? I'm not so sure. Maybelline also claims that lips will look visibly renewed after 1 week of use, however personally after 1 week of use I didn't see that any visible change had occurred. I do however think that maybelline got it spot on with the packaging, it's adorable don't you think?

Now just because I didn't see any visible change or improvement in my pout doesn't mean I don't like the product. As tinted lip balms go, baby lips are pretty good. They do keep your lips moisturised (just not for 8 hours with one application) and provide a lovely sheer colour. Now as with most sheer lip products, the colours staying power isn't exceptional, but it does last for a good while, I'd say for about 2 - 2.5 hours, but if you're using a lip balm, chances are it's because your lips are dry and you need to keep adding moisture every now and then anyway.

I'd have to say that my most worn colour is probably Peach Kiss followed by Grape Vine, although I do get a lot of wear out of all of the above colours. In my opinion the most pigmented shade probably is Pink Punch, unfortunately not only have I lost it, but it doesn't do a lot for my skin tone (blue toned pinks never look good on me.) As you can see Quenched has no colour to it and is a pure lip balm, it is unscented and isn't greasy although it is incredibly shiny. I often like to add it over the top of a matte lipstick sometimes to add a little extra something. Apart from Quenched, each of the balms have a faint fruity smell, but it's nothing unpleasant at all.

Overall I'd have to say that I do like Baby Lips and the sheer colour that they allow, however I don't think that they're quite worth the prestige that they've managed accumulate. There are other products that do the same job as baby lips (nivea pearly shine is just one example) but the baby lips colour range is quite good. I apologise for the lack of colour swatches, they wouldn't show up true to colour on camera and I didn't want to misrepresent the colours, but I'm 99% sure that swatches will be all over google if you'd like to see them.

So what do you think of the illustrious Baby Lips? Have you tried them yet or do you want to?
