DRUG STORE HAUL

Have you ever had one of those weeks when you feel really crappy for no reason, so you sit around the house feeling sorry for yourself and eating copious amounts of chocolate? Yup, I've been having one of those weeks, so yesterday I decided a little retail therapy couldn't hurt. As it's my birthday later this week I talked myself into buying everything by repeating "come on, you deserve a treat" over and over in my head, sadly it worked and I splurged. So here's what I bought;

Revlon lip butter in strawberry shortcake, Rimmel Stay Matte pressed power in transparent, Barry M Gelly high shine nail paint in pomegranate and lychee, Maybeline master drama khol liner in black

Rimmel matte finish pro, primark nail wraps, Rimmel apocalips, The Princess Bride by William Goldman, Bath creamer by the bomb cosmetics, MUA all in one BB cream, smudge eye liner brush by eco tools

As you can see I went a little crazy.. I've never tried a MUA product before though, even though I've heard so many amazing things about their eye shadows, so I'm really looking forward to trying out their BB cream. I'm also quite intrigued by the Barry M Gelly nail polishes  In the past I've never really got on with Barry M nail products, I haven't found them to be long wearing at all, although they do have one of the best colour selections in my opinion.

So in the next few weeks you can expect to see reviews galore, and maybe a couple of fotd's and a few tutorials. I've also nearly accumulated enough empty bottles and whatnot to do an empties post for you all. There's also quite an interesting story behind the "Princess Bride"  book - which I didn't buy, It was gifted to me through the post. It was a lovely surprise to wake up to!

So my dear's, what have you bought recently? And what are your favourite kinds of post to read?

HOW I STYLE - THE LBD

Today I woke up with the blogging bug again. It's the first day of half term so I decided there was no better day to do a "how I style" post. I was a little apprehensive to say the least about doing one of these posts. Fashion is a personal thing and what I deem to be stylish, others might think is a horrible fashion atrocity. Not only that, but those who know me in real life will no I find nothing more frightening than standing in front of the camera, so please do excuse my face!

In all of the outfits featured bellow I'm wearing my black Chelsea boots, black skater dress and a bowler hat stealthily borrowed from a friend (hi hetty!) I thought if I kept three pieces the same in each outfit, I'd be able to show you how easy it it to create different looks by adding just a few items.

Outfit number 1 is something I'd wear if I was going out for a meal or a formal occasion. My faux fur coat has served me well throughout the winter months and I can't bring myself to put it to the back of my wardrobe just yet. I think It adds a certain element of class to any outfit not to mention a lot of warmth. Paired with a bowler hat to add a little character and you're good to go.

The second outfit is definitely more casual. This is a good example what I would normally wear to sixth form. We all have those big baggy jumpers we buy on the run up to Christmas  but quickly tire of after pairing them with every pair of coloured jeans we own right? Well bring those jumpers through to spring by throwing them over a dress! Here I've added a chunky bow necklace to add a little more detail. If you're still feeling a bit chilly I recommend wearing a heavy duty parka as well. (buy jumper here)

This last outfit is actually very similar to something I wore to court a couple of months ago. There must be at least 10 different ways you can wear a scarf, so why not experiment? drape it over your shoulders like a shawl, tie it round your neck in as many different ways possible, hey why not tie it round your waist?! Adding a floral scarf like this adds a feminine twist to any outfit. With the addition of a leather, biker jacket you begin to counteract that femininity. Match a belt to the scarf and add another pop of colour to your outfit.  (buy the jacket here)

So there you go, there's my first how I style post! As it's the first of it's kind you'll have to bare with me as I get used to this kind of post. If you liked it and would like to see more posts like it in the future let me know in the comments. How would you style a black dress? What blog posts would you like to see in the future?

Urban Outfitters Give Away

Have you heard? YOU could be in with a chance of winning £250 to spend at Urban Outfitters! Sounds to fantastic to be true doesn't it? Well it's not, if you're interested in entering it's not that hard, all you need is a blog. To find out more information on how you can enter click here

I'm a huge fan of Urban Outfitters, I would have a field day with £250. When it came to clothes I just wouldn't know where to start, I prefer in store shopping rather than having an online mooch because I like to try things on and see how they fall on my body and my figure. Being such a short arse it's hard to find clothes that actually fit me properly! I know, that sounds ultimately dorky. I absolutely adore the UO home wares section though, I found this bed spread online and fell in love with it immediately. I think it would brighten up any room. In all honesty though, if I won, I can promise you this; there will be one hell of a hall

What would you spend the money on if you won? Let me know!

Monthly Favourites • January 2013

Left to right: Revlon just bitten kissable balm stain in "crush", acnigon perfect skin solution, 17 eye shadow trio in "in the nude",  L'Oreal Elvive extraordinary oil, Laura Geller Ballance'n'Brighten foundation, Simple intensive lip moisturiser and finally my flat topped kabuki brush from eco tools.

Hasn't January flown by so fast? It came and went almost as quickly as the snow seemed too. But after January comes February which is a very exciting prospect for me as February is going to be an incredibly busy month, I doubt I'll get a moments rest. Anyway before I bable on; here are what have been my go-to products for January..

Firstly I'll talk about the simple intensive lip moisturiser. WOW. Just wow. I forgot I had this little guy and I found him hiding at the back of one of my draws just after Christmas, as a lip balm hoarder it takes some seriously moisturising products to capture my attention, but this guy certainly has. My lips have never felt so soft and I've had no problems with chapping due to the cold weather, I would highly recommend this product to anyone, much better than any other chapstick I've tried.

So in January I achieved luscious lips and with the help of acnigon perfect skin solution, I also achieved much clearer skin. This product is both oil and cream free which means it doesn't clog your pores. You simply apply the solution to your problem areas twice a day and voilà, watch those pimples disappear! Whilst this product is aimed at people with acne or very problematic skin, you do not need a prescription to access a bottle.

The last maintainance product I have to talk about is the L'Oreal Elvive extraordinary oil. When my hair is still damp after washing it, I comb it through with this oil in the place of detangler. This oil really does make my hair noticeably shinier and a lot less frizzy. I think I'd even go so far as to say I prefer this product to morocon oil as it doesn't cry the ends of my hair. Suitable for all hair types, if you're looking for a good oil to maintain the health of your hair, then look no further.

In the nude trio from 17

I think I've worn a combination of these colours every day for the past month (if you couldn't tell I'm a big fan of neutral eyes). This is actually the second time I've bought this trio as I ran out of my old one a couple of months ago. The lightest champaign colour is my all time favourite eye shadow, sadly not quite as pigmented as I'd dream, but hey at £5.49 I'm not complaining! However if anyone knows of a good more pigmented dupe then please do let me know in the comments below!

My Bright'n'Ballance powder foundation has been more of a 2012 staple than a monthly favourite. Unrivalled by any other powder I've tried. You see, I have an incredibly pale complexion (so pale that mac don't even carry a foundation shade light enough for me in the winter!) so it's very hard for me to find a powder that doesn't make me look orange, yet still holds some coverage. I love this powder so much because it has green and yellow tones to counter balance any discolouration in the skin, by far a must have setting powder especially for anyone with paler skin. I use this powder to set my YSL foundation, even though it could be used by itself for a lighter coverage, and I do so with my eco tools brush. It would seem that I'm beginning to  develop a deep love for this brush. I believe it was quite in expensive as well . that does make me think though: If i love this brush and it was relatively cheep, how quickly would I fall in love with a mac brush?!

My last make up favourite for the month of January was my Just Bitten kissable balmstain in the shade Crush. If you read my last post you'll know I was really into vampy lips this winter, and January was no exception. I found that the balm was very moisturising and had an incredible staying power. I applied the product at the beginning of the day and found I only needed a top up after 7 or 8 hours. As we move out of winter and towards summer this product will probably be taking a back seat, however I will most defiantly be purchasing a more summery colour from the range.

Bloggers, may I introduce you to my trusty Chelsea boots. These bad boys have seen me through the cold winter mornings and are the boots I find myself continually reaching for, I felt almost compelled to give them a cheeky mention this month as they have served me so well. I do believe they were purchased from Topshop for around £70 but as they were a present I feel bad about having a snoop for the exact price.

So, there you have it, there are all my January Favourites, the products I've found my self constantly reaching for over the past month. What have your favourites been over the last month? and what are you looking forward to in February? Let me know in the comments below. Also let me know what posts you'd like to see over the next month.. How I style? OOTD's? Daily makeup routine? Any special Valentine's requests? Leave me a suggestion bellow and you may just get a mention in my next post. Until then my friends
